Many people don’t come in with established diagnoses at all.
More often, people come in feeling overwhelmed, run down or just not functioning at a level they’re happy with.
In a sense, we're just looking to tune ourselves up.
That’s not only a common use of acupuncture—it’s one of the most useful ways to use it, in our opinion.
However, plenty of people are looking to deal with a health issue that has been given a name. Here are the most common diagnoses:
- Arthritis, tendonitis, bursitis, better management of Chronic Pain
- Insomnia; trouble falling or staying asleep, frequent urination or not feeling rested in the morning.
- High Stress, Anxiety
- Tension, overwhelm, difficulty settling. Foul moods.
- Headaches and Migraines
- Neck Pain, Low Back Pain and Sciatica
- Infertility
There’s also a growing body of research on acupuncture—especially around chronic pain, sleep, and stress-related conditions.
The strongest evidence is in chronic pain, where studies show acupuncture can make a meaningful difference.
For other conditions, the results are more mixed—but overall point toward it being a useful and low-risk option.
Our work is grounded both in that research and, most importantly, what we see every day in the clinic working with several thousand people each year.

Our “No-Brainer” List
There are plenty of situations where we wouldn’t hesitate to use acupuncture ourselves:
palpitations, TMD/TMJ, early cold or flu, respiratory allergies, asthma, Raynaud’s, sobriety support
IBS, constipation, colitis, bloating, reflux, hemorrhoids, poor appetite
PMS, painful menses, amenorrhea, dysmenorrhea
shingles, arthritis, tendonitis, and pre- or post-surgical recovery.
A Simple Way to Think About It
Acupuncture doesn't have to be a tool that is useful for one symptoms or diagnosis at a time.
People often come in for one thing—and notice changes in others. Most commonly:
- sleep improvement
- bowels move more easily
- mood lightens
- tension decreases
- overall functioning shifts in a positive way
That can be a normal part of the process.
